Quy Nhon was the capital of the former Bình Định province. As of 2022, its population was 481,110. Historically, the commercial activities of the city focused on agriculture and fishing. However, there had been a significant shift towards service industries and tourism since the 2010s. There was also a substantial manufacturing sector.
