Are the districts of Kathmandu pulling apart?

Crowds in Kathmandu seem to be redistributing rather than disappearing. Do you feel the city is becoming more fragmented by district, with Thamel doing one thing and Boudha another, or is that just the usual complaint every growing city makes?
